Mystery Snare

from The Snare Junkie by Jesse Sprinkle

/

about

Here's a mystery snare drum that a friend gave to me. Apparently it is an MIJ shell. (Slingerland knock off) It definitely has that Slingerland look. That's for sure! Today I was recording drums for a client. I had a sudden urge to use the cheapest drum I could find... Still sits real nicely in the mix. I enjoyed this session/experiment. It goes to show, you don't always need fancy stuff to sound good! LOL - Of course, I love high end snare drums. But still.... the way you hit, place, and perform... That's a huge part of getting what sounds good to your ears.
